One of the Digital Slovenia 2030 goals, which refers to the digital transformation of local communities in the chapter “The Road to Smart Society 5.0”, is to accelerate the development of smart cities and communities that are in line with our values and are oriented towards the well-being of the individual, the wider society and the environment.
This is why Slovenia launched the Local DESI Index in 2022. The Local DESI is a composite index of the digital economy and society at municipal level, made up of different indicators that reflect the state of the four dimensions in each municipality, based on available data: human capital, connectivity, integration of digital technologies and digital public services. The indicator reflects the calculated average of all 212 municipalities for 2022 and the growth target for 2025 and 2030.
The aim of the project is to explore the possibility of introducing additional indicators for each dimension and sub-dimension for which data are available for each municipality. The new indicators will thus better define the local DESI index and better represent the digital development of Slovenian municipalities.
The LOC_DESI project aims to identify best practices, highlight areas for improvement and promote knowledge sharing among Slovenian municipalities to advance digitization together.
